Pounds, Martinez, Perdomo Set to Rejoin Revolution

Three more returning to York as latest player signings are unveiled

(York, Pa., March 4, 2016) - The York Revolution have added three more to the 2016 preseason roster, announcing the return of Atlantic League All-Star third baseman Bryan Pounds, starting pitcher Jorge Martinez, who is set to begin his second stint in York, and reliever Luis Perdomo. The additions were unveiled by manager Mark Mason during Friday’s airing of “Revs Hot Stove Weekly” on SportsRadio 1350 WOYK.

Pounds returns after serving as York’s everyday third baseman in 2015, while also seeing time at shortstop and second base. Pounds batted .272 with 13 home runs and 66 RBI, while also rapping 25 doubles as he totaled a .421 slugging percentage. His 61 walks ranked second in the league, contributing to his solid .358 on-base percentage. In addition to being named all-league at season’s end, Pounds was also the starting third baseman for the Freedom Division in the 2015 Atlantic League All-Star Game. The All-Star selections were the second in as many Atlantic League seasons for Pounds who batted .283 with 16 home runs and 11 triples while garnering the same accolades for the Camden Riversharks in 2014. The Houston native enters his ninth professional season and was originally a 34th round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers out of the University of Houston in 2008. Pounds spent parts of three seasons at Double-A Erie (2010-12) and parts of two seasons at Triple-A Toledo (2011-12) while in the Tigers organization.

Martinez returns to York where he went 11-8 with a 3.21 ERA in 27 appearances (24 starts) during the 2014 season, his first in the United States. His ERA ranked fourth lowest in the Atlantic League, while he limited opponents to just 125 hits in 134.2 innings and walked only 39 while striking out 93 batters. He was also outstanding in a postseason start, giving up just two runs and striking out eight batters in 5.1 innings in a no-decision against Sugar Land. Martinez spent last season with Joplin of the American Association, going 6-3 with a 3.39 ERA in 13 starts. The Cuba native spent seven seasons pitching in his home country with the Cuban National Leagues. Among his highlights were an 11-5 season that included a 2.94 ERA and four shutouts in 2011, as well as a complete game no-hitter during the 2008-09 season.

Perdomo returns after an impressive stint in the Revolution bullpen during the second half of the 2015 season. The big league veteran went 2-1 with a 2.05 ERA in 24 appearances, allowing just 22 hits and 13 walks compared to 24 strikeouts in 26.1 innings of work after beginning the season with the Bridgeport Bluefish. The 31-year-old owns 51 games of Major League experience. Having first signed with the Cleveland Indians in 2006, Perdomo made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres in 2009, appearing in 35 games out of their bullpen. He also appeared in one game with San Diego in 2010, and 15 games with the Minnesota Twins in 2012. The Dominican Republic native holds a 4.50 ERA in the Majors, with 63 strikeouts in 78.0 innings. He owns a 3.81 career ERA in the minors with 65 saves.
