Latest preseason signings bring addition of Rockett, return of Schreurs
(York, Penn., Feb. 19, 2016) - The York Revolution have signed two more to the preseason roster, adding outfielder Michael Rockett while re-signing lefty reliever Ron Schreurs for the 2016 season. The signings were announced by manager Mark Mason on the latest episode of “Revs Hot Stove Weekly” Friday evening on SportsRadio 1350 WOYK.
Rockett enters his fourth Atlantic League season, joining the Revs to begin his eighth pro season overall. A native of Sugar Land, TX, Rockett first came to the Atlantic League in 2013 with his hometown Skeeters where he spent two seasons. The 28-year-old suited up for Camden last season, batting .269 with a pair of homers and 40 RBI in 137 games played. An outstanding defensive outfielder, Rockett also provides versatility having seen time at second base, third base, and shortstop in his career. Rockett spent his first four professional seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization as a 13th round draft pick of the club in 2009 out of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Schreurs returns after an impressive second half in the Revolution bullpen in 2015. Just 23 years old, Schreurs joined the Revs midseason during his fourth professional campaign and went 4-1 with a 2.55 ERA in 25 appearances, holding opponents to a .220 average. The 6’6 lefty allowed just two runs in 15.0 innings over his first 15 appearances including striking out the side to close out a win vs. Sugar Land in his York debut on July 16. The Curacao native began his professional career with the Baltimore Orioles organization for two seasons and also pitched in the United League in 2014.
The Revs now have six players under contract for the upcoming season, including five players who are returning to York, and will continue to unveil player signings each Friday on “Revs Hot Stove Weekly” on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and the WOYK mobile apps.
