CASAD AND FIELDS NAMED AS PITCHER/PLAYER OF THE MONTH
August 5, 2021, New York – Today the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs (ALPB) announced the league’s Pitcher and Player of the Month of July.
Cooper Casad, a right-hander for the High Point Rockers, is July’s Pitcher of the Month. In the month of July, Casad went 4-0 in 6 starts and posted a 2.89 ERA. Over almost 38 innings pitched, the 25-year-old struck out 31 batters and walked only 10. Cooper came to the Atlantic League after COVID-19 shut down the minor leagues in 2020.
Long Island Duck’s outfielder Daniel Fields is the Player of the Month for July. The former Atlantic League champion had a 13-game on-base streak and spent the month raising his batting average from .168 to his current .286. Fields finished July with three home runs, 21 RBIs, 14 runs, 25 hits, and a .507 OBP. The 2021 season is Fields’ fourth in the Atlantic League and his third with the Ducks.
“Casad and Fields have done an impressive job this month contributing to the success of their respective teams,” said Atlantic League President Rick White. “We look forward to seeing more of their success in our season’s second half.”
