Atlantic League Division Championship Series

High Point 11, Gastonia 4

GASTONIA, N.C. - Logan Morrison homered twice and drove in seven runs as the High Point Rockers leveled the South Division Championship with an 11-4 win at Caromont Health Park on Wednesday night.

Alex Sanabia squared off against Craig Stem with Gastonia seeking to move to within one game of securing a spot in the Atlantic League title. High Point was looking to seize home field advantage from the Honey Hunters, with the series shifting to Truist Point on Friday.

High Point got to Sanabia early, plating four runs in the first inning. Logan Morrison was the main culprit during the scoring outburst, launching a deep drive beyond the right field wall to stake Craig Stem to an early 4-0 lead.

On the night, Stem would prove to not have his best stuff. However, the battle of attrition was a two-sided affair, as the Rockers hounded Sanabia throughout his start.

On the night, Sanabia would pitch 4.1 innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits. The outing for the right-hander was his most challenging in a Honey Hunters uniform.

Stem´s troubles came more from the control side, as the Tennessee native surrendered six walks in the contest, but managed to get High Point deep into the sixth, as Beyce Hensley came on to bridge the Rockers to the latter innings.

In the sixth inning, Morrison would strike again for High Point, hitting a grand slam off Gastonia reliever Onas Farfan to build an 11-3 lead. The slam was the capper to a four-hit night for the first baseman.

Michael Russell added a three hit night for High Point, lifting a solo shot to left in the second inning to add to the early Rockers lead.

For Gastonia, Luis Castro and Reece Hampton would collect two hits in the contest, as Jake Skole added two hits that included a homer and three RBI.

Sanabia would take the loss in game two for Gastonia, the first shortcoming for the California native in a Gastonia uniform.

Game Three of the South Division Championship series moves to Truist Point on Friday and features a matchup of High Point´s Mitch Atkins versus Gunnar Kines who goes for Gastonia.

Lancaster 8, Southern Maryland 7

LANCASTER, Pa. - On a night that started with a bizarre delay and a four-run Southern Maryland first inning, the Lancaster Barnstormers got in the final blow.
