Cast Of New Crabs Joins The 2016 Roster

Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Sign Garcia, Moore, Snodgress, and re-sign Lewis

(Waldorf, Md., April 8, 2016) - The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs announce the signings of IF Eric Garcia, OF Fred Lewis, RHP Navery Moore, and LHP Scott Snodgress to the 2016 Roster.

Eric Garcia, 25, is new to the Blue Crabs, after splitting the 2015 season with the Advanced A Carolina Mudcats and the Double-A Mississippi Braves. Originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2012, the Texas native, is a versatile infielder, starting at Second, Third, and Shortstop during his time in the Atlanta Braves organization, as well as playing seven games in the outfield. During his four seasons in the minor leagues, Garcia has a .943 fielding percentage.

Returning for his second season in a Blue Crabs Uniform, Fred Lewis was originally drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft. Lewis, 35, also made his major league debut with the Giants on September 1st, 2006. In addition, Lewis has spent time in the Blue Jays, Mets, and Reds Organization. In his time with the Blue Crabs, Lewis posted a .966 fielding percentage and a .355 on base percentage.

RHP Navery Moore spent the 2015 season with the Joliet Slammers in the Frontier League. Moore, 25, spent time in the Atlanta Braves organization after being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2008 and the Braves in 2011. The Vanderbilt University alumni posted a 2.35 ERA in 38 games during the 2015 campaign.

Scott Snodgress joins the Atlantic League for the first time after spending the past five seasons in the Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angles Organizations. Snodgress, 26, reached his peak at AAA during the 2014 season with the Birmingham Barons the 2015 season with the Salt Lake Bees. During his minor league career, Snodgress averaged 7.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
