Zach Jarrett Joins 20-20 ClubGastonia’s Zach Jarrett on Saturday night became the latest member of the Atlantic League’s 20-20 club when he smacked his 20th homer of the season. The round-tripper gave him 20 homers and 32 stolen bases as he joined an elite collection of ALPB players with 20 or more homers and 20 or more stolen bases in the same season. Among those also in the club is Jarrett’s Honey Hunter teammate, Jake Skole, who has 23 homers and 26 RBI. Jarrett and Skole mark just the second set of teammates in ALPB history to record 20-20 seasons in the same year. In 2000, Nashua’s D.J. Boston (26 HR, 20 SB) and Glenn Murray (28 HR, 21 SB) became the first teammates to accomplish the feat. Additionally, Skole is just the second ALPB player to record consecutive 20-20 seasons. Murray, in addition to his 2000 feat, had 29 homers and 22 stolen bases in 1999 while Skole (23 HR, 30 SB) had his first 20-20 season in 2021. Two additional Atlantic League players have a chance to join the 20-20 club on Sunday, the league’s final day of the regular season. Lexington’s Phillip Ervin enters the last day with 33 stolen bases and 18 homers while High Point’s Ben Aklinski has 19 homers and 20 stolen bases. The league record is four 20-20 players in a single season when Murray and Boston were joined by Somerset’s Kevin Dattola (21 HR, 31 SB) and Newark’s Ozzie Canseco (48 HR, 21 SB) in 2000.
