Following a 44-year absence, professional baseball made its triumphant return to Lancaster on May 11, 2005 when the Lancaster Barnstormers began play at state-of-the-art Clipper Magazine Stadium.  The Barnstormers franchise has welcomed more than 1.1 million fans in its first three seasons, becoming one of the elite franchises in North America’s premier independent baseball league.

In 2006, the Barnstormers became the first team in Atlantic League history to win first- and second-half division titles, the division playoff series and the league championship series and to go undefeated in postseason play.  In 2007, Lancaster set new league attendance records for single game attendance (8,092 on Opening Night) and All-Star Game attendance (7,362 on July 11) when the franchise hosted the league’s 10th anniversary All-Star Game.

The Barnstormers play at beautiful, state-of-the-art Clipper Magazine Stadium, located along North Prince Street in downtown Lancaster.  Fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium can view the action from one of 5,700 stadium seats, 22 luxury skyboxes, five fully-catered private function rooms able to accommodate 20 to 190 guests, a picnic pavilion with seating and buffet options for up to 500 or general admission lawn seating.  Amenities include two video scoreboards, two matrix scoreboards and a full-scale playground featuring a carousel and inflatable obstacle course.

In addition to 70 baseball games per season, the stadium has hosted sold-out concerts featuring the likes of Bryan Adams, Def Leppard, Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan, local baseball and football events, deck parties featuring live music and bands, job fairs, business meetings and the region’s only outdoor ice skating rink each winter.
