Harbor Yard, home of the Bridgeport Bluefish, was the first new, fully completed ballpark in the Atlantic League’s first year of play. Built in 1997-98 with 5,500 seats, the State of Connecticut and City of Bridgeport each contributed $8 million to Harbor Yard’s $19 million cost. The remaining $3 million was contributed by the original Bluefish ownership group. El Nino contributed a very mild winter so the Bluefish could open on schedule and on budget.
The Bluefish have played in the postseason five of the ten seasons of Atlantic League play. The Bluefish won the Atlantic League championship in 1999 and still hold the record for the most wins by any team in Atlantic League history.
The current ownership group is comprised of Fairfield County and Westchester business and community leaders. The Management Board includes CEO Mary-Jane Foster and Jack McGregor of Bridgeport, co-founders of the team with the original ownership group, Michael Kramer (Co-Chair of the Management Board with Jack McGregor) and Tom Kushner, both of New Canaan, CT, Tom Schneider of Westport, CT and Tom D’Addario of Shelton, CT. |
