Bridgeport, CT – September 7th – The Bridgeport Bluefish announced today that the Road Warriors will play as the home team on Saturday, September 8th at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
The Road Warriors are owned and operated by the Atlantic League and play each of the 126 games of the season on the road. The team was created to balance the North and South Division with four teams each and will be replaced by the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in 2008.
The Road Warriors will not only bat in the bottom half of each inning, they will be treated as the home team as well. Each player will have the option to choose his own “walk-up music” as well as have his picture on the video board each at-bat.
This will be the second time this season the Road Warriors have been honored in this way. The Newark Bears had them serve as the home team on August 28th.
Saturday’s match-up begins at 6:05 P.M. and has one of the most action packed promotions this season for Fan Appreciation Weekend. Saturday will host BirdZerk, the entertainment whirlybird who is constantly pulling off hijinks with the players and coaches, harassing the umpires and officials, and funnin’ with the crowd. The Marching Cobras will also be at the park and are a premier performing unit who are nationally and internationally known for their exciting, dynamic and colorful routines. On top of all of that there is also the last post-game fireworks show of the season!
The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. 2007 season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 203-345-4800.
