Right handed pitcher Jeff Farnsworth was signed by the Boston Red Sox and was assigned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Friday, August 31.
As a relief pitcher for York, Farnsworth was 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA. In 2006, he pitched 48 games for Triple-A Charlotte, going 7-3, with a 4.71 ERA, and 14 saves.
Farnsworth split time as a starter and reliever in the minors, with a career record 43-42, 21 saves and a 4.92 ERA. He pitched part of the 2004 season in the Atlantic League with Atlantic City going 2-0 with a 2.96 ERA in four games. From Atlantic City he was signed by Milwaukee, and spent all of 2005 with Newark. He had a 2-7 record with a 6.50 ERA in 27 games with 10 starts.
In other Revolution moves, right handed pitcher Franklin Nunez was signed by the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, August 26 and assigned to Triple-A Nashville.
Nunez joined the Revolution in Spring Training and served as the team’s closer for most of the season. He was 1-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 12 saves. Most recently he saved both games of the Road Warriors doubleheader on August 22.
He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the L.A. Dodgers in 1994, and has pitched in the Dodgers, Phillies, Mets, Devil Rays and Braves organizations. Baseball America rated him as having the Eastern League's best fastball in 2001.
