Bridgewater, NJ – The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots left-handed pitcher Brian Adams has set a new Patriots single season record for most wins in a season.
Adams won his 13th game on Tuesday evening over the Lancaster Barnstormers to set the new mark. The win occurred in game one of a double header, in which Adams pitched a complete game shutout and allowed just two hits and six strikeouts.
Adams broke the record of 12 wins set by Justin Jensen (1999), Ricardo Jordan (2002), and Brett Jodie (2003).
“Now that was masterful. When he’s on he makes it look easy, and it’s not that easy,” Lyle said following Adams’ 13th win of the season.
Adams leads the Atlantic League with the 13 wins, 97 strikeouts, and is among the league leaders with his 3.78 ERA for the season.
“We are all very happy for Brian. He’s been great for us on and off the field and has truly been a pleasure to have on our team. We obviously look for him to be a big factor in our success for the remainder of the season,” said Patrick McVerry, President/ General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
Adams has experience in the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers organizations, including four seasons at the Double-A level.
Adams spent the 2006 season with Fargo-Moorhead of the independent Northern League. He was 2-1 with a 2.94 ERA, ten saves, and 26 strikeouts in 33.2 innings pitched in 33 games.
He has a minor league career record of 36-22 with a 3.35 ERA, 30 saves, and 423 strikeouts in 575.2 innings in 268 games pitched.
