Eight-Year Major League Nolan Reimold Joins Flock

Former second round draft pick and American League Rookie of the Month signed by Ducks

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 5, 2017) – The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks today announced the signing of outfielder Nolan Reimold. He begins his first season with the Ducks and 13th of professional baseball.

“Nolan has put together an impressive career in professional baseball and has extensive experience at the game’s highest level,” said Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “He is eager to help this team win as well as earn an opportunity to return to the Major Leagues. We look forward to having him with the club.”

Reimold, who played 104 games at the MLB level in 2016, spent eight seasons in the Major Leagues in all, including seven with the Baltimore Orioles and one split between the Toronto Blue Jays and Arizona Diamondbacks. In 480 MLB games, he totaled 56 home runs, 174 RBI, 179 runs, 61 doubles and seven triples. During his rookie season in 2009, the Pennsylvania native launched 15 home runs while driving in 45 runs and racking up 100 hits. He was named the American League’s Rookie of the Month for June after batting .320 with four homers, nine RBI, 13 runs and a .420 on-base percentage.

The Bowling Green alum earned his first big league hit in his MLB debut on May 14, 2009, a single off Kansas City Royals pitcher Ron Mahay. He then hit his first Major League home run six days later, a ninth inning solo home run at Yankee Stadium off of New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera. In 2016, the 33-year-old played 104 games in the Majors with the Orioles and finished the year with six home runs, 15 RBI, 25 runs and nine doubles.

In 2006, Reimold was selected to play for the United States team in Futures Game at All-Star Sunday in Pittsburgh. That same season, he was named the Top Star of the Carolina League All-Star Game after going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. The outfielder also took home Eastern League Post-Season All-Star honors in 2008 and was a Baseball America Short-Season All-Star selection in 2005. Reimold was originally drafted by the Orioles in the second round of the 2005 amateur draft.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
