Liberty and Freedom Division squads unveiled prior to 19th midsummer classic
(Denver, CO, July 6, 2016) – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball today announced the rosters for the 2016 Atlantic League All-Star Game. Representatives from the Liberty and Freedom Divisions will square off in the league’s 19th annual midsummer classic on Wednesday, July 13 at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa., with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
“There is a tremendous amount of talent featured among the rosters of our eight member clubs this season,” says Atlantic League President Rick White. “Fans attending the All-Star Game will have the privilege of seeing some of the best players in professional baseball take the field in a fun-filled atmosphere.”
Both squads will feature 22 Atlantic League players, including 13 position players and nine pitchers. Position players were chosen by league officials, coaching staffs and media voting, while pitchers were selected by the All-Star Game managers. Representatives from all eight teams in the league are featured on the All-Star Game rosters.
The Liberty Division squad will be managed by Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie, who led Somerset to the 2015 Atlantic League Championship. Six players selected were selected from the Long Island Ducks, who won the First Half Liberty Division title and earned a guaranteed playoff berth. The expansion New Britain Bees feature six players on the All-Star roster. The Bridgeport Bluefish have five players represented in the midsummer classic, and the Patriots round out the Liberty Division with five All-Star selections.
The Freedom Division team will be led by Bees manager Stan Cliburn, who managed the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs to the 2015 Freedom Division Championship. A league-high eight members of the Lancaster Barnstormers will be included on the roster. The York Revolution, who claimed the First Half Freedom Division title and secured a postseason berth, will have five representatives on the squad. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and Sugar Land Skeeters each also have five players who were selected to participate in the All-Star Game.

Gates for the All-Star Game and Farm Show at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa., will open at 5:00 p.m. A pre-game Home Run Derby featuring many of the league’s top sluggers will begin at 5:30, with Inaugural Farm Show following at 6:00.
